School Life at NPS
SCHOOL SYSTEM:
Each student is a member of one of the four houses i.e. Venus , Earth , Mars and Jupiter. Students from these houses compete each other in a healthy manner in various co-curricular activities organized in the school. Each house is led by a captain and a vice captain who are directly responsible for maintaining discipline among the members of the houses.
DISCIPLINE COMMITTEE SYSTEM:
Discipline is very vital in the growth and reputation of any school. The discipline committee led by a faculty head and a student head pioneers the spirit of discipline inside the campus. Besides, periodical meetings between parents and Teachers are held to appraise the academic, behavioural and discipline matters of the children.
INFRASTRUCTURE:
The 3 acres serene and beautiful campus is located at Thazhuthala, Mukhathala P.O., Kollam District which is about 2 km north to Kottiyam and just a km to Kannanalloor. The locale is very much congenial to imparting education as the school is far away from the madding crowd.
SMARTCLASS / DIGITAL CLASSROOMS:
Our school has provided the students with Digital classrooms with the state of art facilities. This engages students attention by teaching them with the tools that they love. This creates unmatched conceptual clarity and enhances long term memory of lessons and helps the students in learning opportunities to develop and ignite their cognitive, behavioral and psychomotor skills.
SPORTS:
The school promotes physical activities through sports and games. There are standard equipments and well trained faculty to make the students reach to heights. The students are provided with training in various sports and athletics which encourages students to participate in intra school and inter school competitions. Some of the common sports and games activities at the school are:

LABORATORIES:
The school has well equipped labs for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. The school also has well maintained computer labs. The computer lab is equipped with hi-tech computers.
LIBRARY:
“The Library connects us with insight and knowledge, pinfully extracted from nature, of the greatest minds that ever lived, with the best teachers drawn from the entire planet and from all our history, to instruct us without tiring, and to inspire us to make our own contribution to the collective knowledge of the human species. I think the health of our civilization the depth of our awareness about the under pinnings of our culture and our concern for the future can all be tested by how well we support our libraries.” Libraries are pillars of any civilized society of any academic institution. Our library has a very rich collection of relevant books periodicals and journals. The total number of books and periodicals exceeds 5000.
Every class has one library period per week and every child can check out one book per week. We inculcate a love for books and motivate the little ones to reach regularly and conduct book reading competitions. To promote the use of books and reading habit among children, book exhibitions are conducted in school premises by publishers and book sellers, where the students are able to purchase books of their own choice.
SCHOOL LIFE:
In National Public School, the day begins with morning assembly. Every class takes turn in conducting the assembly everyday. The assembly includes prayer, choir singing, pledge, thoughts of the day , quiz and reading of the important news of the day.
The main aim of these assemblies is to improve the students’ communicative skills, leadership qualities, organizational skills and discipline. These assemblies help the students to showcase their talents and shed their fear of the stage and nervousness. The school conducts educational field trips and also classwise excursions for both leisure and educational purposes. The school conducts four Assessments (FA 1,2,3,4) and two term end (SA1 & SA2) examinations. The school follows the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation System (CCE) and Continuous Assessment System. Parents are also kept informed about the progress of students through ‘Open House” sessions.

The National Public School has an excellent basketball court and offers best-in-class coaching to students interested in the game. The School also encourages students to actively take up team games and participate in intra school and inter school competitions to improve their game and at the same time to keep up their spirit of sportsmanship.

INDOOR BADMINTON COURT

The badminton court was inaugurated by the MLA M.Noushad. Students from the primary and main block avail of this facilities after school as well as for specialized coaching after school hours. Students are also trained to compete at tournaments at district & state levels.

FITNESS CENTER

A healthy mind is the temple of a healthy body. The state of the art gym builds up the stamina and physique of the students. There are experienced and certified Fitness Trainers and Dieticians available to suggest a specific fitness routine and diet plan.

VOLLEYBALL COURT
​
A well laid out volleyball court and professional coaches provide excellent opportunities for students to excel in the sport. Students are encouraged to participate in inter house as well as inter school tournaments.
